GERMANY TURNS TO COAL IN RESPONSE TO RUSSIAN GAS CUTS

The German Government has announced a number of emergency measures to help manage gas shortages caused by Russia's gazprom throttling supplies. 

Germany had been in the process of mothballing its coal power plants - but with Russian gas now in short supply - the government says it has no choice but to fire up the coal plants.
