US President Joe Biden is calling on Congress to suspend federal taxes on petrol in the United States for the next 3 months.
The US government collects 18 cents for every gallon of petrol sold in the US, and President Biden says the move is designed to bring about an immediate lowering of the price at the pumps.

It is not clear how quickly Congress might move on the President's initiative.
He also challenged the oil industry to produce more petroleum, and announced executives will be meeting members of his White House team tomorrow.
And he defended the soaring petrol price as a cost America must bear to protect Ukraine's democracy.
