EU agrees sanctions in response to Russian recognition of breakaway regions

European Union member states have agreed to a package of sanctions in response to Russia's decision to recognise the self-declared republics of Donetsk and Luhansk. The bloc says Moscow's move is a violation of international law. Russia's foreign ministry has reportedly criticised the fresh Western sanctions.
