UK: JUNE 21ST LOCKDOWN EASING IN THE BALANCE

The UK government says it's still too early to say whether it will be able to ease all covid-19 restrictions in England as planned on June 21st.

Ministers say they are 'open' to a delay if necessary.

Coronavirus cases have been rising in recent weeks as lockdown measures have eased and the India-discovered Delta variant has spread.

But hospitalisations and fatalities have remained low.

Solicitor General Lucy Frazer says it's still possible the June 21st easing might go ahead.
