West African leaders insist on 1 year transition period as against Mali junta's 3year request

Leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have insisted that the military coup plotters in Mali only hold on to power for one year before transiting to a democratic rule. 

But the leaders of the military coup say they want to stay in power for a three-year transition period.
