UK 'HYBRID PARLIAMENT' GETS TO WORK

A new 'hybrid Parliament' is getting to work in the UK for the first time ever, with some MPs in the chamber and others joining via videolink.

The plan was approved by parliamentarians on Tuesday, to ensure social distancing can be observed while maintaining scrutiny of the government.

Parliament will operate in this way until at least 12th May as the coronavirus outbreak is dealt with.

Deputy Speaker Eleanor Laing says the number of MPs turning up in person can be kept to a minimum.
