MAY STRUGGLES TO WIN SUPPORT FOR BREXIT VOTE

An attempt from the UK government to win over MPs opposed to Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal, appears to have made little impact.

A proposed amendment, understood to have Downing Street backing, which would have given UK lawmakers more of a say over the controversial Northern Ireland backstop, has not won widespread support.

Which, as UK correspondent Olly Barratt reports, means Theresa May still looks set to lose a parliamentary vote on her deal on Tuesday.
