GEORGE HW BUSH DIES

George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st President of the United States has died at the age of 94.

In a lengthy public career, he served as a member of the US House of Representatives….as US Ambassador to the United Nations…..as Director of the CIA….as Vice President for 8 years under Ronald Reagan….and then as President himself for one term, from 1989 until 1993.

He's credited with helping to end the Cold War, and force Saddam Hussein's forces to withdraw from Kuwait.

As President, George Bush presided over difficult economic times in America, and they contributed to his defeat in the 1992 election.


But some of his wounds were self-inflicted.


He never kept a promise he memorably made not to raise taxes when he accepted the Republican Party's Presidential nomination at the 1998 convention.
