Close to 1,000 people killed in monsoon floods in India this year

There have been close to a thousands deaths so far during this year's monsoon season, according to newly released figures.

About 400 people have been killed in Kerala alone as a result of torrential rains as the south Indian state experienced its worst flooding in a century.
