Controversial EU official appointed to top civil servant

In a significant reshuffle of power in Brussels, the controversial German, Martin Selmayr (Pron: Sell-My-Err) has been promoted to become the EU's most powerful civil servant.

Mr Selmayr is regularly accused by many in the European press as being the puppet master in Brussels working on behalf of German interests.
