The United States government shutdown has come to an end after three days.
President Trump signed a bill that temporarily extends funding for the
government until February 8th.
Off the back of several days of negotiations the U.S. Senate passed
the measure after Republicans promised to debate the topic of
immigration.
After the Senate passed the bill it was then sent to the House before
it could hit the President's desk.

The shutdown meant that hundreds of thousands of federal employees
were placed on leave without pay. House Speaker Paul Ryan says the
three-day shutdown wasn't acceptable.

the Republicans for the shutdown.

Immigration was a major sticking point during negotiations and
Democrats finally accepted the Republican proposal that ensures the
issue of immigration is debated in the coming weeks. White House Press
Secretary Sarah Sanders says this was President Donald Trump's plan
from the beginning.
