Two days after Turkey's military pushed into northern Syria in an offensive against the Syrian Kurdish militia, the United Nations Security Council met behind closed doors Monday to discuss the latest developments.
France had called earlier for an emergency session over concerns that Turkey's latest move could further escalate tensions.
Speaking to journalists afterwards, the French ambassador Francois Delattre said he had underscored France's position to the 15-member body.
