US President Donald Trump says his immigration reform policies offer
"a down-the-middle compromise", despite opposition from both
Republicans and Democrats.
In his first State of the Union speech the President said he would
give a path to citizenship for 1.8 million illegal immigrants.
But in return he wants funding for the border wall with Mexico,
potentially totaling $25 billion, and end to the visa lottery program
and chain migration.
However the President's plans have so far been largely opposed by both parties.
