Opioids a national public health crisis - Pres. Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump has declared the opioid epidemic a public health emergency, freeing up resources for treatment and to pursue drug dealers.

The death rate from overdoses has been increasing, with the Centers for Disease Control confirming at least 52,000 cases in 2015 and more last year.

Months after receiving recommendations from a special White House panel, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his decision.
