The US says its priority in the Middle East is to de-escalate tension after days of bloodshed in Jerusalem.
The deaths of three Israelis and four Palestinians in violence on Friday and Saturday raised international alarm and prompted a session of the United Nations Security Council to consider ways of defusing the crisis.
US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert says US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman and the President's special envoy Jason Greenblatt are working hard to calm the situation
