Studies of brains of American professional football players found nearly every one had damage.
In a new study published in the Journal of American Medical Association,
87 percent of the brains studied had signs of CTE - chronic traumatic encephalopathy - that is brain damage, and furthermore, the evidence was found in all but one of the brains donated by the families of deceased professional football players.
The researchers caution, the brains were donated by cooperating families and may not represent all football players, while the National Football League has promised more funds for research.
