US Senate Majority Leader says healthcare 'skinny repeal' outcome 'disappointing'

US lawmakers voted down an attempt to repeal the Obamacare bill, with a majority of 51 to 49.

The Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has described the decision as 'disappointing' and said it would be 'time to move on' after the blow to US President Donald Trump's election promise to reform the healthcare act.

Mr McConnell had described the repeal, called the skinny repeal, as the right thing for the country, but agreed that efforts were not enough on this occasion to begin a repeal process.
