The ceasefire in southwest Syria brokered by the US, Russia and Jordan, has largely been holding since going into effect Sunday, as a new round of UN-led peace talks began in Geneva.
The UN Special envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, hailed the de-escalation agreement, and expressed hope that it would contribute to talks this week between the Syrian government and the opposition.
