The top Democrat in the US Senate...Chuck Schumer...says many Americans suspect President Donald Trump is trying to shut down the investigation into allegations of Russian interference in US politics.
President Trump has been highly critical of his own Attorney General in recent weeks, calling him "very weak" on Twitter.
He also claimed in a New York Times interview that he never would have hired Mr Sessions if he had known he would recuse himself from the Russia investigation.
