No dowry arrests in India until charges proved

India's Supreme Court has said that no arrest can take place in a dowry case until the claims of harassment have been verified.

The court passed this order while citing cases of the anti-dowry law being misused by disgruntled wives.

Currently, a dowry case entails the immediate arrest of the accused and his family.
