The White House says a permanent peace deal between the Israelis and Palestinians is a matter of when, not if.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump postponed fulfilling a campaign promise to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a proposed move which has angered the Palestinians which consider East Jerusalem their capital.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer says President Trump wants to do what will bring about peace quickly.
