A former leader of Britain's ruling Conservative party has been criticised after he implied that Prime Minister Theresa May would be willing to go to war with Spain to protect the interests of Gibraltar, a British overseas territory in the south of Spain.
The comments of Michael Howard, who now sits in the House of Lords, have been described as "sabre-rattling" by political opponents, while the Prime Minister's office says she remains steadfastly committed to Gibraltar.
