BERKELEY PROTESTS TURN VIOLENT

Student protests have turned violent at the University of California at Berkeley, ahead of a planned talk by a right-wing journalist.

Riot police were brought in after hundreds of students joined demonstrations against a talk by Milo Yiannopolous, an editor at the Breitbart News website.

His speech was cancelled.
