New British ambassador to EU named

The British government has appointed a new Ambassador to the European Union following the surprise resignation of Sir Ivan Rogers.


Sir Tim Barrow will now head the British delegation at the EU and play a key role in negotiations about Britain's withdrawal from the group.


His predecessor resigned on Tuesday, accusing Prime Minister Teresa May's government of "muddled thinking".


Charles Crawford, a former British ambassador, worked with Sir Tim Barrow at the British Embassy in Moscow.
