US sanctions 2 from DRC

The U.S. has frozen the assets of two officials from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

One is a commander in the army and another worked with the national police and both are suspected of supporting the political violence which continues to plague the DRC.

U.S. State Department spokesman John Kirby says Washington imposed the sanctions in part because it wants to see a better future for the Congolese people.
