JAPAN WARNS UK OVER BREXIT

Japan says the country's companies with European headquarters in the UK may choose to move them if the Brexit process is not handled in a 'responsible manner'.

Japan's foreign ministry has compiled a report which warns firms may wish to leave the UK if European Union laws cease to apply in Britain.

Japanese companies employ about 140 000 workers in the UK.

Britain's new Prime Minister Theresa May insists 'Brexit means Brexit' but says the UK won't rush into starting negotiations with the EU on how it leaves the bloc.

Sir David Warren is the former British ambassador to Japan and says he's not surprised by the report.
