The U.S. State Department is confirming it is reviewing the video which purports to show Canadian Joshua Boyle and American Caitlin Coleman, a couple who was kidnapped in 2012.
In the video, they beg the Afghan government to stop executing Taliban prisoners, warning they too might be killed.
U.S. State Department spokesman John Kirby says they are continuing to work on obtaining their release.
