NORTHERN IRELAND POLITICAL CRISIS DEEPENS

Power-sharing arrangements in Northern Ireland remain on the brink as Britain and Ireland's governments call for fresh negotiations.

Northern Ireland's First Minister Peter Robinson stepped down on Thursday after his Democratic Unionist Party's calls for a suspension of the Stormont Assembly were rejected.

The devolved political institutions have been in crisis since the murder of an ex-IRA man, which police believe may have had IRA involvement.

Jeffrey Donaldson of the DUP says Sinn Fein now needs to take the lead in addressing the issue if power-sharing is to work.
