Nebraska considers abolishing death penalty

Lawmakers in the U.S. state of Nebraska are considering abolishing capital punishment, a move spurred by the legal difficulties and high financial cost of carrying out executions.

Earlier this spring, the legislature voted 30-13 to repeal the death penalty, but the issue must be voted on twice more, and Nebraska's Republican governor has warned he would veto any such bill.
