CONSERVATIVES HEAD BACK TO GOVERNMENT IN UK

The Conservative Party appears to be close to winning a majority in the UK's General Election.

Exit polling forecast them to win 316 seats - short of the 323 needed.

But they are comfortably ahead of the opposition Labour Party which is being wiped out in Scotland.

The Scottish National Party is set to send dozens of MPs to Westminster.

A coalition government remains a strong possibility, even potentially including the Liberal Democrats despite a grim night for the party.

Britons went to the polls on Thursday.

UK correspondent Olly Barratt says tight opinion polls in the months ahead of the vote appear to have been inaccurate.
