Greece's Tsipras remains defiant not to accept Eurozone bailout extension

Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras said Tuesday that he will not compromise with the Eurozone's ultimate to agree to an extention of its bailout.

Speaking to his parliament in Athens, Tsipras said  his government would defy the notion that newly-elected governments act differently from their pre-election promises, and affirmed he would not follow that pattern.

His comments were made as European Union finance ministers met for talks in Brussels to discuss the lack of a deal with Greece ahead of a March expiry date of its current bailout program.

UK finance minister George Osborne warned that time is running out to come to a decision.

Eurogroup president Jeroen Dijsselbloem has been at particular odds with Greece's finance minister Yanis Varoufakis who blamed the chief for changing a more relaxed draft agreement that Athens was ready to Accept.

Dijsselbloem continued to insist to reporters on Tuesday that the best solution is for Greece to accept an extension while a more long term financial plan can be negotiated.
