The United Nations has secured a promise from a South Sudanese armed group to release about three thousand children -- mostly child soldiers -- in what the agency says is the largest-ever demobilization of its kind.
The first group of 280 children were released in Jonglei State Tuesday, with the other children slated to be released in phases over the next few weeks.
Liling Tan reports from the UN in New York.
