NATO and EU criticize Russian agreement with breakaway Georgian region

Russia has come under strong criticism from NATO and the EU for signing a "strategic partnership" with Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia this week.


Georgia accuses Moscow of looking to annex the territory.


NATO says the "so-called treaty blatantly contradicts the principles of international law", and says the Western alliance won't be recognizing it.
