Violence has broken out on the streets of the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, after a grand jury decided not to seek criminal charges against a police officer who killed an unarmed black teenager earlier this year.
Police fired tear gas at demonstrators who refused to disburse after the announcement was made.
Shops were set alight, police cars overturned and our Washington Correspondent says President Obama's appeal for calm went unheeded.
