Pace of economic growth sends US markets tumbling

Stocks in the United States have slid by over one percent on Thursday
as gitters over the strength of the global economic recovery remain.

More weak economic data coming out of Europe is causing unease on Wall
Street with fears it could affect earnings season in the US.
