Britain's UK Independence Party has won its first seat in the British parliament.
Douglas Carswell, who defected from the Conservative party to join UKIP, won a local election in the seaside town of Clacton.
He told his supporters that there was, "nothing we cannot achieve."
The governing conservative party chairman said the anti-Europe and anti-immigration party victory was a, "wake-up call."
