UK TOUGHENS TERROR POWERS

British Prime Minister David Cameron has announced new plans to combat the increasing numbers of radicals from the UK fighting in Syria and Iraq - and those returning home.

He says border officials will be given new powers to seize passports from Britisn nationals traveling abroad to fight.

Mr Cameron says powers to monitor terror suspects in the UK will also be increased.

It follows the suspicion a Briton was involved in the beheading of US journalist James Foley.

Hundreds of British nationals are known to have traveled to Syria and Iraq to fight with militants.

So there has been increasing international pressure for David Cameron to act.
