Obama Sets Out Strategy Against Islamic State Militants


Barack Obama has used a primetime speech on American television to lay out his strategy for dealing with the Sunni terror group the Islamic State. 

Speaking from the White House, the US President said Washington would lead a broad coalition to roll back the threat, using air power and partner forces on the ground to take out IS militants 'wherever they exist' - implying that American action will be expanded to include Syria.
