UK Welcomes “Overdue” Lebanon Ceasefire

The UK Government has welcomed the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hezbollah, that brings to an end over a year of conflict in Lebanon. 

The ceasefire was announced on Tuesday night and came into effect at 4 am local time on Wednesday morning.

France says Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire achieved through French diplomacy

Emmanuel Macron says the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah brings a similar truce in Gaza closer.

The US and French presidents jointly announced the Lebanon deal on Tuesday, which sees the IDF agreeing to leave the country, and Hezbollah pledging to move further north away from the Israeli border.

Trump may pursue better ties with North Korea

Imran Khan's party calls off protest after police crackdown

An overnight crackdown by security agencies in Pakistan has forced Imran Khan's party to call off a mass protest.

Khan's party and supporters were campaigning to secure his release- the former Prime Minister has been in jail since August last year on corruption charges he claims are false.

Imran Khan's supporters claim soldiers opened fire on unarmed protesters - with the police saying 450 demonstrators have been arrested for defying a ban on protests.

US President Joe Biden has confirmed a ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. 


Thousands of people have been killed - and more than a million displaced - in the latest round of the conflict, which began following the October 7th attacks by Hamas in Israel.
