China braces for Typhoon Doksuri

China is bracing for the arrival of Typhoon Doksuri – the most powerful storm so far this year, with winds up to 180 kilometres an hour. That's 110 miles per hour.

It’s the second typhoon to cause havoc in southern China in two weeks, after a quarter of a million people were displaced by Typhoon Talim

UK Climate Scientists Warn Of Dramatic Changes

A new report has warned that record high temperatures in the UK last year could become the average over the next 40 years.


Those are the findings of climate Scientists at the Met Office, the UKs national weather service.


They looked at trends dating back to the 17th century, and believe that hot and dry conditions in 2022 will be considered cool by 2100.

Indian opposition parties wear black to parliament in symbolic protest

A day after India's parliament authorized opposition parties' no-confidence motion against Narendra Modi's government, the leaders of opposition parties have raised their pitch to compel the Prime Minister to address the parliament on the ethnic violence in north-eastern state of Manipur. Over 120 people have died and 60,000 displaced in the ethnic violence that has continued for three months now. On Thursday, the opposition leaders wore black to the parliament session to draw the government's attention to the issue.

Delegations from China and Russia visit North Korea

North Korea is hosting high-level delegations from China and Russia for its 70th anniversary commemorations of the end of the Korean War.

This signals fresh engagement by North Korea with its key partners after it became even more isolated during the pandemic.

The country's state media reports that its leader Kim Jong Un met with Russia's defence minister Sergei Shoigu.

US stocks mixed following to Fed rate hike

Interest rates in US hit 22-year high

The United States Federal Reserve has raised interest rates to a 22-year high following a hotly-anticipated two-day meeting. 


The Federal Open Market Committee temporarily paused rate hikes last month — however on Wednesday it announced a quarter percentage point increase to a 5.25%-5.5% range, potentially rounding off the US central bank's most aggressive monetary tightening cycle in decades in a bid to tackle inflation

Six injured following New York crane collapse

Six people are injured after a crane collapsed in New York City.


A fire broke out on the machine on Wednesday near the Port Authority bus terminal in Midtown Manhattan.

Lloyds Half-year Profits Fall Below Estimates As Pressure Mounts On The Bank To Help Customers.
