US might stay in Afghanistan indefinitely

The United States might keep a military base in Afghanistan indefinitely, despite a pledge by president Obama to withdraw all forces from the country.

Storms kill dozens in US South

Over forty people have died in a string of floods, tornadoes, and blizzards across the South and Central US over the past few days.

Multiple states have declared a state of emergency during the busy holiday travel period.

Mastercard: US Holiday Retail Sales Grow 7.9 Percent

Demand for furniture and women's clothing, as well as strong online sales, helped drive US retail sales over the holiday season - that's according to Mastercard Advisors Spending Pulse.

Analysts there say sales grew almost 8 per cent.

Police kill two in Chicago, answers demanded

The families of two African Americans killed by police over the weekend in Chicago are demanding answers.

Police were responding to a domestic disturbance call when they opened fire, killing 55 year old Bettie Jones and 19 year old Quintonio LeGrier.

The Chicago Police Department says the officers confronted a "combative subject" prompting shots... but they've admitted the shooting of Bettie Jones was an accident.

This is just the latest of a string of high profile incidents involving the deaths of black Americans at the hands of the police.

Jacqueline Walker, a friend of Bettie Jones, questioned the police's actions.

Trump accuses Bill Clinton of sexism

Controversial Presidential hopeful Donald Trump is going after former President Bill Clinton - accusing him of having a penchant for sexism.

Mr. Trump's remarks came after the Clinton camp said the former President would be actively campaigning for his wife Hillary Clinton in the new year.

The millionaire mogul himself has been widely accused of sexism - including just last week when he used vulgar terminology to describe Hillary Clinton's loss to Barack Obama in 2008.

Deadly tornadoes in Texas

At least 11 people have been killed in the US state of Texas following a string of deadly tornadoes.

The winds damaged buildings and knocked cars off of highways.

These tornadoes were just the latest in a string of fatal weather incidents across the South Central US this week, which included twenty tornadoes causing havoc in the state of Mississippi.

And officials are warning the coming days may bring major blizzards across Texas and New Mexico.

Mayor Todd Gotell of Rowlett, Texas says there's significant damage in his city.

Iraqi forces retake Ramadi from ISIS

Iraqi forces have retaken the city of Ramadi from the Islamic State, according to military officials.

Backed by US air-strikes, Iraqi troops retook the main government compound on Sunday, after ISIS held the territory for over half a year.

Obama administration reportedly gearing up for deportations

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is preparing to deport hundreds of families who entered the country illegally from Central America, where they were fleeing war and violence.

That's according to the Washington Post, which says the Obama administration is targeting families already earmarked for removal.

The nationwide campaign could reportedly begin as early as January.
