Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is visiting British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in the UK.
 
The two leaders are expected to agree on a new defence partnership focused on producing low-cost attack drones, and boosting support for Ukraine in its war with Russia.

Israel claims two top Iranian security officials assassinated in Tehran

Israel's defense minister says two top security officials within the Iranian government have been killed in Tehran in the latest round of US and Israeli bombardment.


The news came hours after President Trump told reporters at the White House that the US is holding talks with Iranian government officials whom he did not identify.

Gold price edge higher ahead of interest rate decisions

Gold prices rose more than half a percent on Tuesday, boosted as fears about disruption to oil shipments due to the Middle East conflict eased. This also came ahead of a wave of central bank policy decisions this week.

Spot gold was up at $5,035 an ounce in early trade.

Oil prices whipsaw as Strait of Horumz remains shuttered to most traffic

US-China talks conclude amid uncertainty over possible Trump-Xi summit

The United States and China have concluded two days of bilateral talks in Paris.

The two sides discussed economic issues, and a possible summit in China at the end of the month between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.

However, doubts have now been cast on that meeting, with the US treasury secretary saying that the US president may now stay in Washington to coordinate the war against Iran from there, and downplayed concerns that a delayed visit was due to increased tensions between the two sides.

NATO Future Questioned Over Strait Defence

The future of NATO has been called into question by Donald Trump, if US allies fail to help reopen a key shipping lane in the Middle East.

Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz - a crucial route for global supplies of oil and gas.
