EU shelves US tariff countermeasures

The European Union has shelved countermeasures on U.S. tariffs for a
further six months after reaching a framework trade agreement.

Efforts are ongoing for the sides to issue a joint statement but
officials say that a baseline tariff rate of 15 percent on European
exports is now in effect.

UK-FRANCE MIGRANT DEAL BEGINS

A migrant returns deal between the UK and France is coming into force.

The so-called 'one in, one out' arrangement will see some migrants arriving in the UK on small boats detained and returned to France.

In exchange, the UK will accept an equivalent number of asylum seekers from France with ties to Britain.

The government says the pilot scheme will act as a deterrent to illegal migration - critics say it won't work.

Europe wildfire emissions hit new records

New Funding Targets Illegal Immigration To The UK

The UK government is spending an extra 100 million pounds ($132 million) to try and reduce illegal immigration from Europe.


The money will be used to target small boat crossings in the English Channel, by providing new technology and around 300 more National Crime Agency officers.


The funds will also go towards supporting the pilot of a new 'one-in-one-out' returns agreement with France.

Trump positions 2 nuclear submarines in response to Medvedev threats
