UK-France treaty targeting illegal crossings comes into force

A treaty between France and the UK targeting illegal crossings between the two countries has now come into force.

The International Office for Migration estimates that at least 82 migrants died trying to cross the English Channel in 2024, with at least 18 more fatalities so far this year.
