Uganda Parliament Approves Military Deployment to South Sudan

The Parliament in Uganda has officially given the green light for the country's national army to deploy in South Sudan, weeks after the soldiers had already crossed the border.

 

The government says the move is to protect peace and trade, as tensions in South Sudan continue to rise.

London Heathrow Airport Closed

London Heathrow Airport is closed all day today (Friday) after a fire at a nearby electricity substation that provides it with power.


Heathrow is Europe's busiest airport. Hundreds of thousands of passengers have been affected, with disruption set to continue for days to come.

EU won't respond to new Trump tariffs immediately as Trump urges Fed to cut rates

Trump says call with Zelensky "very good"

US president Donald Trump says his call with Ukraine's president Zelenskyy was - "very good" - and that peace talks are on track.

The pair have been speaking - a day after Trump talked to the Russian president Vladimir Putin - who said he would be willing to pause attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
