Live poultry markets remain closed in New York following bird flu discovery

All poultry markets across New York remain closed this week, after
bird flu was detected at some facilities.
Several cases of bird flu have been reported across the United States
but the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says transmission
to humans remains low.
The outbreak has however resulted in a shortage of eggs across the country.

US inflation hits 3% for first time since June

HEATHROW ANNOUNCES EXPANSION PLANS

Heathrow Airport is announcing a multi-billion pound(/dollar) investment as it prepares its proposal for a new runway.

The privately-funded upgrades at terminals two and five will lay the groundwork for wider expansion.

The plans include guarantees of using British steel - with the sector under pressure because of possible tariffs from the US.

The government gave its backing to a third runway at Heathrow last month.

Israeli Prime Minister: Hamas must release prisoners by Saturday or the Gaza ceasefire will end


Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the Gaza ceasefire will end if "Hamas does not return our hostages by Saturday noon."

Jordan says it will take in 2000 sick Gazan children but demurs on mass relocation of Palestinians

Jordan's King Abdullah II has said his country would take in 2000 sick Palestinian children from Gaza, signaling new openness to a plan by US President Donald Trump to resettle the residents of the war-torn strip.


Speaking to reporters during their meeting at the White House, President Trump asserted again that the US  "will have Gaza," citing "US authority" to claim the enclave.

American prisoner released by Russia

Russia has freed American detainee Marc Fogel. 


The 63-year-old school teacher was released from prison on Tuesday, according to US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.


He'd been arrested for the illegal possession of cannabis back in 2021 and was given a 14-year prison sentence, which the United States viewed as "wrongful."

World braces for even more Trump tariffs

The Canadian government says it will retaliate in a "clear and calibrated" way to the latest tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump, after he confirmed he's imposing a 25% import tax on steel and aluminium entering the United States from 12th March.
