UK cuts interest rates by 0.25%, with revised growth forecasts


The Bank of England has lowered UK interest rates by a quarter of a point to 4.5%.

That's down to mid-2023 levels before the full economic impact of Russia's invasion of Ukraine was being felt. Caroline Malone reports from London.

Uganda Starts Ebola Screening at Border Points

At least 17 students die in fire in northern Nigeria

January was warmest on record

January was the warmest on record with global temperatures nearly 0.1C
higher than those recorded in January 2024.
