Israel implements ban on UNRWA

The United Nations is continuing its call for Israel to rescind two
pieces of legislation that effectively bans the UN's aid agency, UNRWA
from operating in the Palestinian territories.
According to the world body, the new laws will have devastating
consequences on the people of Palestine, however Israel insists the
laws will go ahead.

Bodies pulled from river after Washington mid-air collision, amid fears death toll will rise

At least 30 bodies are reported to have been pulled from the icy waters of Washington's Potomac  [PRON:  POH-TOE-MAC] River after a military helicopter and a passenger jet collided in mid-air on Wednesday night.


It is feared the death toll could rise above 60.


The investigation into the accident is already focusing on the possibility of an error by the military pilot in the helicopter who was on a training exercise.

ECOWAS confirms exit of Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso from the regional bloc


West African regional bloc, ECOWAS has confirmed the withdrawal of three of its members from the organization.

Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso announced plans to withdraw from ECOWAS last year after tense relations with the regional bloc.

They have formed the Alliance of Sahel States to champion economic development and also fight insecurity in their regions.

Hope fades for Washington plane crash survivors

At least nineteen bodies have reportedly been recovered from the
Potomac River in Washington DC after a plane carrying 60 passengers
