EU launches TikTok probe

The European Union has opened an investigation against TikTok and the
role it played in the recent elections in Romania.

The presidential race was annulled and delayed amid reports that
Russia was using the social media site to influence voters.

Russian General Assassinated In Moscow

The head of Russia's nuclear defence forces has been killed in an explosion in Moscow.


Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov was blown up by a device hidden in an electric scooter as he left a residential block this morning.


Sources in Kyiv say Ukraine has claimed responsibility for the attack.


On Monday the General was sentenced in absentia by Ukraine for using banned chemical weapons in the ongoing conflict.

French president to travel to "devastated" island of Mayotte

The French president Emmanuel Macron says he will travel to France's Indian Ocean territory of Mayotte in the coming days, as rescue teams rush to locate the missing.

The interior minister says the French island has been "devastated" after Cyclone Chido hit the territory.

At least 20 people have been confirmed dead, but authorities fear that hundreds of people could have died in the disaster.

Delhi reimposes strict anti-pollution measures as air quality dips

South Korea's Yoon given until Saturday to appear for questioning: Yonhap

Netanyahu has "warm" phone call with Trump

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President-elect Donald Trump had a "very warm" phone call according to the Israeli leader.

ECOWAS gives Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger six months to reconsider withdrawal

The West African bloc, ECOWAS has asked Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger to take the next six months to reconsider their decision to withdraw from the group.


Leaders of the bloc gave this grace period at the 66th ECOWAS Summit in Abuja on Sunday.


The three countries announced plans to exit the group in January this year following what they say were harsh sanctions in the wake of the coup in Niger in July 2023.

Hundreds feared dead after cyclone hits French island

Hundreds of people are feared dead after Cyclone Chido slammed into the French island of Mayotte (My-ott).

It's the worst cyclone to hit the territory in 90 years.
