Reports: body of British entrepreneur Mike Lynch recovered from sunken yacht


The body of British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch has reportedly been recovered from the wreck of the luxury yacht that sank off the coast of Sicily.

Sources say Lynch's 18-year-old daughter is the only passenger still missing.

Further protests planned over alleged sexual assault of two schoolgirls in India's Maharashtra

An opposition party in the western Indian state  of Maharashtra has called for a protest on Saturday over the alleged sexual assault of two children at a school.

The Bombay High Court plans to take up the matter of the alleged assault on Thursday, while the state government has issued a directive to all schools to install CCTV within a month in response to the incident and protests.

DIVERS CONTINUE SICILIY YACHT SEARCHES

Divers are continuing searches on Thursday for a missing person, after a super-yacht sank off the coast of Sicily.

On Wednesday five bodies were found on the boat by divers, leaving one person unaccounted for.

Investigations also continue into how the yacht sank on Monday.

Pan-India protests continue over the rape and murder of medic

In India, security has been beefed up outside the hospital where the rape and murder of a trainee medic took place earlier this month.

Federal reserve police forces have also been asked to take charge of security at the RG Kar Medical Hospital as doctors continue their protest, demanding justice for the victim.

Fed minutes suggest rate cut on the cards

The Federal Reserve looks increasingly likely to cut interest rates at its next meeting in September.


Minutes from the US central bank's July meeting, released on Wednesday, show most policymakers supported a reduction if inflation continued to cool.

Violence costs the world nearly 20 trillion dollars

The UN Security Council on Wednesday heard that violence cost the
world nearly 20 trillion dollars last year.
The United Nations says that is 13.5 percent of global GDP.
At a special high-level session of the council, Sierra Leone's Foreign

Revised economic data shows U.S. jobs growth less strong than estimated

The US labor department has revised job growth numbers, finding in the year up until March, payrolls were overstated by around 818,000 jobs.
That suggests job growth has been less positive than previously thought, although unemployment remains relatively low.
